Ariana Grande Weeps Over Hair Loss

Blog Post By: OC Hair Restoration of Orange County

Ariana Grande, known as Cat Valentine in the Nickelodeon television show Victorious, arrived at the Grammys in tears. The 20 year-old actress and singer had just read a post by a blogger attacking not only her outfit…. but her hair too! Ariana’s new extension filled hairstyle has created quite a debate among her fans. In fact, just a few days ago, she took to Instagram to explain the reasons behind her new look.Ariana Grande Hair Loss

Ariana posted that after years of acting on the small screen it has “completely destroyed” her hair. “I had to bleach my hair and dye it red every other week for the first four years of playing Cat,” she shares, “I wear extensions but I wear it in a ponytail because my actually hair is so broken that it looks absolutely ratchet and absurd when I let it down.”

She even posted about non-surgical alternatives that she tried without success. “I tried wigs, they looked RIDICULOUS,” she says, adding: “tried a weave…and literally wanted to rip my scalp off.”

In summary she explains: “So as annoying as it is for y’all to have to look at the same hairstyle all the time, it’s all that works for now (and I’m comfortable for the first time in years),” the 20-year-old writes. “And trust me, it’s even more difficult for me to have to wait forever for my natural hair to grow back and to have to wear more fake hair than every drag queen on earth combined. So PLEASE gimme a break about the hair (or just don’t look at me lol). IT’S JUST HAIR AFTER ALL.”

Many women suffer from hair breakage and hair thinning from excessive use of hair dyes. Unfortunately, repairing that damage can be a long and slow process. Ariana has taken a great first step to repair her hair damage by going back to a natural hair color to minimize the use of hair dyes. However, the use of extensions will only make her hair loss worse. Hair extensions cause a medical condition known as traction alopecia. Traction alopecia is the result of chronic traction or pulling of the hair follicle, which causes irreversible damage. Whether the traction is from wigs or weaves held in place by glue, tape, clips, bonds, or braids; all these methods will eventually lead to bald spots.

There are non-surgical options available to repair Ariana’s damaged hair. Hair restoration surgeon, Dr Ken Williams at Orange County Hair Restoration, emphasizes the need for Ariana to start a daily hair treatment routine. “Ariana should be applying Rogaine 5% foam directly onto her scalp every morning and take the oral vitamin Viviscal.” Dr. Williams reminds patients, “while daily treatment is key, adding a Low-Level Laser therapy cap three times a week to your daily treatment regimen is the best way to not only help repair the damage, but help stimulate new follicle growth as well.”

For years, hair restoration surgeon, Dr Ken Williams, has helped women suffering from hair thinning and hair loss with both surgical and non-surgical treatment options.
